Nairobi to Masai Mara — Shared Vehicle Safari Begins
Meet your group and driver-guide at Nairobi's designated meeting point at 07:00 for the drive west to the Masai Mara. Your shared vehicle carries up to 7 passengers, each with a window seat in the pop-up roof 4x4. Arriving in the early afternoon, an immediate game drive introduces the Mara's wildlife at its afternoon best: lions resting beneath acacia trees, cheetahs using termite mounds as lookout platforms, and the vast herds of wildebeest and zebra that give the reserve its extraordinary character.
Full Day Masai Mara Budget Game Drives
Budget does not mean basic wildlife — the Masai Mara's animals show no preference for vehicle cost, and lion kills, cheetah hunts and wildebeest crossings occur regardless. Your experienced driver-guide uses radio networks to find the best sightings and shares knowledge that brings the bush alive. A packed lunch is served in the vehicle at a scenic location.
Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru
After the final morning drive and breakfast, drive north through the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru, crossing the equator and entering the park for afternoon game drives. The flamingo spectacle is one of Africa's most dramatic natural displays and is never guaranteed — the alkaline algae that sustains the flamingos rises and falls with rainfall — but the rhino sightings are reliable throughout the year.
Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha
Morning game drive in Nakuru then drive south to Naivasha. The budget boat safari on Lake Naivasha is shared with other guests but no less spectacular: hippos surface and submerge metres from the boat while African fish eagles perform their aerial displays from dead trees along the shoreline.
Lake Naivasha to Amboseli National Park
Drive south to Amboseli — the long road south passes through Maasai territory where traditional red-ochre-smeared warriors graze enormous herds of cattle. Arriving in Amboseli in the afternoon, the mountain welcomes you with a typically theatrical display of cloud building over the twin summits.
Full Day Amboseli Budget Safari
The budget experience in Amboseli is the same as in any other camp — the elephants, the mountain, the flamingos and the sweeping plains are free for all to enjoy. Morning and afternoon drives cover the park's key areas with the same professional guidance.
Amboseli Final Drive & Nairobi Return
Last morning drive at sunrise — the most magical light of the entire safari. Return to Nairobi arriving afternoon.
