The classic Kenya circuit at mid range value, this 7 day safari visits the Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli National Park in a well paced loop from Nairobi. It is the most popular Kenya itinerary for a reason: each park complements the next, the wildlife is outstanding throughout, and the combination delivers the full spectrum of what East Africa has to offer. The Mara opens your adventure with two days of extraordinary game viewing among lions, cheetahs, elephants and wildebeest. Lake Nakuru provides the sensory overload of flamingo fringed shores and rhinos at close quarters. Naivasha's tranquil lake offers a welcome change of pace, a boat trip among hippos, otters and a kaleidoscope of waterbirds. The safari concludes in Amboseli, where the iconic view of elephant families moving against the slopes of Kilimanjaro creates one of travel's most memorable images. You stay in a mix of comfortable mid range lodges with ensuite facilities, and all meals from Day 1 lunch through Day 7 breakfast are included.
7 days of carefully planned experiences.
Collected from Nairobi hotel early morning, you travel southwest through rolling hills and the famous Rift Valley views. Arrival at the Masai Mara gate by early afternoon allows time for lunch at your lodge and a 3-hour afternoon game drive introducing you to the resident wildlife. The Mara's landscape in different seasons — emerald green after the rains, golden-brown in dry season — is always dramatic. First sightings of wildebeest, zebra and giraffe are cause for celebration.
A complete day in Africa's most famous game reserve. Dawn drives target the predators: lion prides returning from night hunts, spotted hyenas at their dens and the cheetah families that hunt the open Musiara plains. Afternoon drives follow the Mara River for potential wildebeest crossings (July–October) or focus on the dense riverine forest where leopards spend daylight hours hidden in fig trees. Buffalo herds of thousands graze the plains, and the Mara's elephant population includes some of the largest-tusked individuals remaining in East Africa.
After breakfast and one final morning drive, drive north to Lake Nakuru. The park's famous rhino sanctuary — established in 1986 with 160 kilometres of electrified fence — now holds Kenya's largest concentration of white rhino, making sightings almost certain. The Flamingo Hill Viewpoint provides a classic panorama of the pink-fringed lake below.
Morning game drive in the wooded eastern section of Nakuru where black rhino favour the dense undergrowth and tree-climbing lions have been documented for decades. Drive south to Naivasha for a late afternoon boat safari — the perfect compliment to the previous days' land-based drives. Hippos, African fish eagle, grey crowned crane and African spoonbill are all regular sightings from the water.
Drive south through the dramatic Rift Valley escarpment, past vast sisal plantations and Maasai homesteads, to reach Amboseli by early afternoon. Elephant families move across the dust plains in every direction, and Kilimanjaro — when the cloud clears — dominates the entire southern horizon.
Amboseli's morning light is extraordinary — the mountain catching the first pink of dawn, elephants moving through wet grass with steaming breath in the cool morning air. Observation Hill is the signature viewpoint, but it is the intimate encounters with elephant families in the swampland that make Amboseli genuinely unique. Cheetah, lion and hyena are all resident and regularly sighted.
A final morning drive in Amboseli captures the mountain at its clearest and the elephants at their most active. Return to Nairobi arriving mid-afternoon.
